In the wake of Bill Cosby's
overturned conviction and release from prison,Andrea Constand, author
of The Moment, and her legal team released astatement on
Twitter, in which they
wrote, "Today's majority decision regarding Bill Cosby is not only
disappointing but of concern in that it may discourage those who seek justice
for sexual assault in the criminal justice system from reporting or
participating in the prosecution."
They received an outpouring of support,
including that of writer, actress and activist Sarah Polley who wrote, "Let's all
pre-order Andrea Constand's bookThe Moment to show our support.
Let's make this day a record pre-order day for a woman who came forward in
impossible circumstances. #metoo"
In a New York Times article about the subject, the outlet
reports, "Though her story now has an unwelcome coda, Ms. Constand appears
unbowed. On Thursday, she retweeted a message from Hope, Healing and
Transformation, a foundation she started last year to offer guidance and
support to survivors, which will receive a portion of the proceeds from her
memoir. 'Your story and voice matter right now more than ever. Silence is NOT
an option. BILL COSBY IS NOT INNOCENT.'"
