We are delighted to announce that Kirsten Boie has won this year’s prestigious Deutscher Jugendliteraturpreis - German Youth Literature Prize - for DUNKELNACHT! Awarding the prize at Frankfurt, the jury commented:
‘Short sentences describe with painful precision how ideological blindness erases all humanity, how neighbours become murderers… Kirsten Boie has created a magnificent piece of memoir literature that gets under your skin. ’
Established in 1956, the prize, worth 10,000 Euros, is Germany’s only state-funded literary award, and is given annually to outstanding works of literature for children and young people. Huge congratulations to Kirsten, seen below accepting her award.
