Some brilliant news to share if you haven’t already seen it from this morning, the crime queen, Lynda La Plante, has been awarded the 2024 Diamond Dagger by the Crime Writers Association (CWA).
Congratulations to Lynda on this richly deserved prize! This is the highest accolade for any crime writer and she has been chosen alongside James Lee Burke by their peers.
From the CWA website: ‘The most prestigious Dagger of all, the Diamond Dagger awards a lifetime contribution to crime writing in the English language, and is nominated by CWA members.’
Lynda will join the likes of Martina Cole, Peter James, Ann Cleeves, Lee Child, Ian Rankin, Colin Dexter in the ‘Crime Fiction Hall of Fame’ – a very fine list indeed!
Lynda will collect her prize in July this year to celebrate a phenomenal career which began back in 1987 withThe Legacy.
Her backlist of titles is so rich, but includes highlight WIDOWS which was adapted into a film, featuring an all-star Hollywood cast. There have also been the brilliant TENNISON and JACK WARR series published by us with combined sales of close to 2,000,000 copies!
And to cap a memorable 2024, Lynda will release her memoir with Zaffre later in the autumn detailing her career as an actress, TV producer and crime writer – watch this space!
