Dear Friends,
There’s a lot going on with the new adaptation of King’s iconic novel IT, which is the subject of two feature films from New Line Cinemas. The first film will concern the characters as children in their first battle with the demonic figure of Pennywise the Clown, and the second film will feature the same characters as adults facing the resurgence of this figure of evil from the darkness and trauma of their past. It is anticipated that the films will be released one year apart.
Casting for Part I is nearly complete, with a creepy new Pennywise and the majority of child roles filled. The US release date is set for September 8, 2017.
The cast so far includes:
Bill Skarsgård (Hemlock Grove, The Divergent series) as Pennywise the Dancing Clown
Owen Teague (Bloodline, Mercy Street) as Patrick Hockstetter
Jaeden Lieberher (St. Vincent, Masters of Sex) as Bill Denbrough (leader of the Losers Club)
Finn Wolfhard (Supernatural) as Richie Tozier
Wyatt Olef (Guardians of the Galaxy) as Eddie Kaspbrak
Chosen Jacobs (Hawaii Five-O) as Mike Hanlon
Jeremy Ray Taylor (Ant-Man) as Ben Hanscom
Jack Grazer as Stanley Uris
The only member of the Losers Club not yet cast is Beverly Marsh.
The director is Andres Muschietti, a talented young Argentinian film maker who has drawn attention as the director of the cult supernatural horror movie Mama.
