BEFORE I FALL PREMIERES AT THE SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL!

RECAP FROM STEPHEN BARBARA: The premiere on Saturday went brilliantly, and the buzz was great—all around me people were sobbing during the movie (Days 4, 5, and 7, especially), or trying really hard not to. The consensus is that it’s a very emotional and redemptive film, but many felt that it goes beyond standard teen fare because Ry’s visuals (and the soundtrack) are so absolutely eerie and stunning. Zoey Deutch looks set to become a big star after the great performance she delivered in the film—she’s just so expressive and she nailed Sam’s character. After the movie Laura got up on stage and joined the director and actors in talking about what the film means to her, the original book it’s based upon, and its larger themes. At night Awesomeness threw a huge party where posters of Before I Fall were everywhere along with a number of influencers, YouTubers, actors, actresses, and people who worked on the film.
