Some lovely news from Hollywood to share! I’m pleased to report that several of our books have been acquired for film/TV:
Fox Searchlight is acquiring Albert Woodfox’s Solitary, a memoir detailing his four decades in solitary confinement at Louisiana’s Angola Prison. Mahershala Ali (Oscar, Academy Award, and Golden Globe winner, known for Green Book, Moonlight, True Detective, House of Cards) is looking to star in and produce the film. Woodfox’s memoir received rave reviews from The New York Times Book Review and NPR and was featured in Newsweek’s “Great Escapes.” You can find more detail about the film project in the announcement here:https://deadline.com/2019/06/mahershala-ali-albert-woodfox-solitary-fox-searchlight-film-longest-serving-solitary-confinement-prisoner-1202627052/
The film/TV deal for Candace Bushnell’s Is There Still Sex in the City? was announced earlier this spring: Paramount Television and Anonymous Content have acquired rights to develop a TV series. Bushnell herself will write the pilot script and serve as an executive producer on the project, along with Liza Chasin from 3dot Productions and Robyn Meisinger from Anonymous Content. You can read more about the deal here. The book has been getting excellent press recently including a feature in The Wall Street Journal's “The New Rules of Middle Age, Written by Women”, and ELLE's “30 Best Books to Read This Summer.” I’m copying below our publicity department’s most recent update—much more to come!
