Mike Jones joins Profile

17 July 2014，Mike Jones is to join Profile as Publishing Director.

Jones was until recently the non-fiction Publishing Director at Simon & Schuster, which he had joined from Bloomsbury in 2008. His authors there included Gordon Brown, Margaret Heffernan, Iain Martin, Andrew Wilson, James Barr, Julie Summers, David Reynolds, Ferdinand Mount, Ranulph Fiennes and Monty Don.

Andrew Franklin, Profile MD, commented: "These are exciting times in non-fiction publishing. There are outstanding authors writing important books, but there are also new ideas bubbling up all the time that need brilliant new writers to turn them into books. And then there is the editing that turns good manuscripts into outstanding books.  Jones' departure from S&S surprised the publishing industry - one former colleague there told BB that he was "the best non-fiction publisher I've ever worked with". At Profile, he fills the gap left by Daniel Crewe, who also took observers by surprise in announcing his move to Viking.
